carbon_14_dating_card-p137050444856729672en8ks_152Have you ever been to a museum or read an article that proposes that a specific fossil or archaeological find is 100 million years old?  And if you press them on how they know it is a 100 million years old, they will usually give you the “old” answer (no pun intended) of “we know this by Carbon-14 dating.”

Most people take this explanation for granted in that they must know what they are talking about since they just threw out an element on the periodic table with a number.  But in reality, they are simply trying to make themselves sound intelligent without really knowing the science behind it.

I even had a conversation with an atheist friend of mine of whom I pressed for his best evidential scientific proof of macro-evolution (which he touts as absolute truth), where he stated “Carbon-14 dating proves the fossil record.”
What he nor the museum sign nor Darwinian evolutionary proponents will not tell you (or do not know) is that carbon decays very quickly with a half-life of only 5,730 years.  What the half-life of an isotope means is that every 5,730 years, carbon-14 will be cut down to half its mass.  And 5,730 years later, it will be cut down again.  And again and again, 1/8 and 1/16, respectively.  Which means that there would be literally no Carbon-14 left in a fossil after a few hundred thousand years.

Half-life C-14

And yet Carbon-14 has been detected in “ancient” fossils supposedly up to hundreds of millions of years old by our so-called unbiased scientists.

Even if every atom in the entire world were Carbon-14, they would decay so quickly that none would be left on early after only 1 million years.

I will give you some evidence of the problems with our long-dating, peer-reviewed scientific literature.  Between 1984 and 1998, 70 samples that came from fossils, coal, oil, natural gas, and marble that represented the fossil-bearing portion of the geological record, supposedly spanning more than 500 million years, all contained Carbon-14.  Other samples of fossilized wood and coal samples, supposedly spanning more than 32-350 million years in age, had significant amounts of Carbon-14.  Lastly, diamonds supposedly 1-3 billion years old had large amounts of the C-14 isotope.  A sea creature, called an ammonite, discovered near Redding, California, which was accompanied by fossilized wood was claimed by strata dating to be 112-120 million years old, however it yielded enough C-14 to be only a thousand years old.

In fact, the radiocarbon ages of all fossils and coal match somewhere less than 10,000 years (you will not read this in a high school textbook).

I will head off some common arguments from atheistic scientists against my evidences above:

  • There is no contamination of the samples tested.  The instrumentation is treated with strong acids and bleaches to remove all Carbon-14 and calibration of instrumentation of blank samples yield zero C-14 isotope.
  • Calculations demonstrate conclusively that fossils near decaying uranium bombarded with traces of nitrogen do not produce the levels of radiocarbon that world-class laboratories have found in fossils, coal, and diamonds.

So next time you read an article, go to a museum, or have an atheist say “Carbon-14 dating proves evolution,” call them out on their quickly decaying guesses of so-called science.
