I think we all agree that we love a great underdog story.  We all  love the tale where a man fights against all odds to win.  The hero that stubbornly goes into apparent danger only to overcome those odds stacked against him…

So is this the reason why the evolutionist continues to proclaim that macro-evolution is the truth even when the overwhelming odds are 1 in 10 to the 40,000th power of life forming from non-life?  Is this how the evolutionist deduces their own story for historical science with no reproducible evidence and theories laced with faulty assumptions?

Isn’t it strange that the evolutionist tries to suppress the facts, say their presuppositions and worldviews are not directly tied into their science, and they outright fight with vehement disgust against Jesus and the Bible?

You never hear of an evolutionist proclaiming that their Apple computer was once an Apple  ipod and over millions of years, it became a laptop.  And in a few hundred thousand more years, this same computer will become a car.  Absolutely ridiculous, isn’t that.  But that is what the evolutionist believes.  They would deny that our bodies are different than hardware.  However, our bodies are so much more complex than that of a computer and it is designed with a digital code of information much like a computer.  And our DNA code is far more advanced than any computer program ever written by man and all of creation is made with such precision that it is unmistakable that there is a Creator.

Again there is no explanation for the Laws of Thermodynamics, Matter, and Energy by the evolutionist.  Just a refusal to separate historical and evidential science as well as macro- and micro-evolution.

So if the reasons are not an “against all odds” story-line, then there must be reasons why the atheist would put all their eggs in one common basket.  I deduce that there are both theological reasons why as well as practice reasons why.

Theological Reasons:

The Bible clearly shows that man has an inherent sin that makes them both unwilling and unable to understand and accept the truth.  The truth of a Creator that would send His Son on earth to live a perfect life and die a gruesome death for the atonement of the sins of all who would repent and believe – absolute foolishness to the unbeliever.

“Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of bird and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.  Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.  For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.  Amen.”  Romans 1:22-25

Practical Reasons:

  • Pride – They refuse to acknowledge God because if there is a God who has created all things (including themselves), they would have to bow their knee to that Creator and admit their transgressions against that God as well as their need for a savior.  With their own pride intact, they do not have to bow their knee to anyone and they alone become the standard by which they live their life by.
  • Sin – They love their own sin so much, the last thing they want to do is acknowledge that their sin is wrong and so they would have to turn from their sin and to the Creator for forgiveness.  It is much easier to make up the rules for yourself, and continue in your sin for a season.  “For men will be lovers of self….lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.”  2 Timothy 3:2-3

The atheist may think they are fighting against Ivan Drago…but they are fighting against the Creator of this Universe who has made Himself clearly shown through what has been made, so that all men are without excuse.  When I was able to view my sin for what it was – exceedingly sinful in the eyes of a holy God, and saw that God had sent His Son, Jesus, to pay the price and atone for all my sins, while I was still a sinner – there was nothing to do but listen to God’s calling, turn from my sin, and run to the Savior.

That is the greatest underdog story of all-time…and I pray that it is yours as well.
